what meets the eye.
Scot Baker did not learn buildings only from an inspection manual. His background spans residential and commercial construction, from union-trained, certified Journeyman Carpenter to lead carpenter and commercial project superintendent. That practical experience informs the way he looks at a property: how its parts connect, what changed over time, and which details deserve a closer examination.
Since 2009, Baker Inspection Group has served Modesto and communities across California’s Central Valley. Thousands of property inspections have added another layer of understanding to Scot’s construction background. Every assignment is still a different building, a different set of questions, and an opportunity to give a client clearer information.

Residential construction & client service
Scot’s work has included carpentry, customer service, special projects, and homeowners-association field work. Seeing both construction and the questions that come after occupancy helps him communicate findings in useful, understandable terms.
His roles have included Customer Service Technician, Customer Service Manager, Special Projects Manager, and Commercial Journeyman Carpenter. Those experiences reinforce a practical approach: explain the concern, show the evidence, and put the next step into perspective.
Commercial project leadership
Scot’s commercial background includes superintendent and assistant superintendent work on banks and credit unions, offices, retail buildings, medical facilities, educational buildings, and commercial plazas.
Projects in his experience include the Del Webb Woodbridge clubhouse in Manteca, Oak Valley Bank’s March Lane branch in Stockton, professional facilities in Modesto, and commercial buildings in Ripon. This is construction experience—not a claim that Baker performed property inspections for these organizations.

The proprietary BIGCrawler began with a problem Scot repeatedly encountered: important crawlspace areas that were simply too tight to enter conventionally. He developed remotely operated equipment to document more of those spaces, and continued improving it over multiple generations.
Thermal imaging, aerial drones, and the BIGCrawler extend a trained inspector’s reach. They do not remove the limits of a visual inspection or guarantee access to every hidden area. Scot’s approach is to make good use of the tools, explain the limitations, and keep the client informed.
Scot is a Certified Master Inspector, InterNACHI Certified, and a member of the Certified Commercial Property Inspectors Association. Just as important, Baker remains available after the inspection for questions and does not sell or share client information with outside vendors or partners.
