A thermal imaging camera in the hands of a professional home inspector can be a very powerful tool. There are a lot of things in an average home that can cause problems for a homeowner, and many of them can be invisible to the human eye. However, an infrared camera can make these invisible things visible. How?
Take your home’s attic as an example. There are plenty of things that can go wrong up there, but it can be really difficult to see them because of how dark and cramped it is. If a rodent or some other pest decides to make a home in your attic, you may not be able to see it. But thermal imaging can detect heat sources like the pests themselves, gaps in the insulation from burrowing, or chewed electrical wiring that’s giving off extra heat. We could go on with more examples of things that can go wrong in an attic, and many of them can be avoided by taking a look with an infrared camera.
