When the wind blows, how does your home fare? In some areas where there are large open areas, the wind can pick up quite a bit of speed and make it uncomfortable to be outside in the yard. It could even get so bad that it does damage to your siding and other parts of your home that aren’t as sturdy.
So, is there anything that you can do to prevent this from being an issue? One option that might take a little time but that will yield great results is to plant a windbreak. A windbreak consists of a row of trees that will force the wind up over your home and improve conditions in your backyard.
You need to plan the location of the trees well, however. First, determine how tall the trees will grow when they are full grown. If they don’t grow tall enough, they are not going to serve their purpose. They also need to be at a distance of at least 4 times the height of your home for the best effect.
